Earl Industries Recognized by SCA for Excellent Safety Record
March 8, 2012
Portsmouth, Virginia. The Shipbuilders Council of America recently awarded Earl Industries the 2011 SCA Award for Excellence in Safety. Each year SCA awards this honor to shipyard members with the lowest total recordable incidence rates based on a quarterly injury and illness survey conducted by the association.
Earl was also awarded the 2011 SCA Award for Improvement in Safety. This award goes to shipyard members with a 10% or more year-on-year reduction in total recordable incidence rates (TRIR).
In 12 out of the last 13 years, SCA’s average TRIR has been more than 20% below the industry average. According to Ian Bennitt, SCA’s Manager of Government Affairs, “2011 was the SCA’s lowest TRIR average ever. This amazing accomplishment is the culmination of years of your dedication to the safety and health of your workers.”
Shane Bangert, Earl’s Corporate Safety Director, will be presented with these awards at the SCA’s April meeting in Washington, DC.
